Old Mission Peninsula, Traverse City, MI
My husband and I have undertaken the role of homeschooling our 12 year old nephew. Living off the grid and homeschooling have swallowed up much of my artistic time and I am grateful to a friend who offered her cottage on Old Mission Peninsula for a two day art get-away. Their cottage is right on the bay where three graceful white swans, as if on cue, swam by when I awoke in the morning. I have always loved northern Michigan, especially Port Oneida, Sutton's Bay, and Old Mission Peninsula. The fall trees, vineyards, and farmlands were bursting with vivid oranges, reds, ocher, salmon pinks, and brilliant greens. Faded white farmhouses and cottages stood so humble among the palette of colors.
