As spring bulbs begin to loosen the soil around our tiny house in North Carolina, my mind shifts to pleasant summers in Michigan. I am itching for the sights of northern Michigan, its vineyards, rolling farmlands and orchards. When I return to Michigan each summer I delight in visits to the beautiful northern towns of Traverse City, Port Oneida, Suttons Bay and Petosky. Even though it is barely spring here in Boone, I feel the warmth of summer against my face and become attentive to songbirds in the briars. I dream of rows and rows of cherry blossoms trees and colorful vegetables gardens. I hope this series, inspired by the beautiful Charlevoix and Traverse Bay vineyards and farms, reveals the fresh taste of summer.
