babe, honey & bi bi
Babe, Honey, and Bi Bi is an exploration of my response to infertility and the adoption of of our beautiful daughter, a 22 year old African American woman who has been a part of our lives for four years. She came to live with my husband and I in her Senior year of high school, after many difficult years living from house to house after her parents died when she was fourteen. We are adjusting to the new titles of mom and dad, and the suddenness of an adult college student in our active lives. Her joy is remarkable after years of disconnect, loss and sorrow, and we are so proud of her. I have made a conscious choice to call her Bi Bi as I believe that a term of endearment would have occurred naturally if she had been in my arms since birth.
